Volunteer Projects THINKTANK: Phase Six

For the first five phases of this THINKTANK head HERE and scroll down to the Volunteering Projects THINKTANK header!

One key detail when you are involved as a volunteer in a leadership role for an event is the fact that you are also responsible (or should feel responsible) to also do fundraising for the event.

That’s definitely the case for Walk to End Alzheimer’s for myself.

Today’s phase though is to give you a few ideas about how to put a fun marketing spin on your fundraising efforts that hopefully will make it a bit more memorable and enjoyable than just begging your Facebook friends repeated times.

There are also so many causes out there, so many people that need dollars raised, and such an incredible amount of options that posting it to your Facebook account and crossing your fingers simply doesn’t cut it.

My goal for the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s is to raise $3,600.00 as a result of my fundraising efforts.

Here’s just a few of the ways I plan to get there:

  1. I’m going to match dollar for dollar every single donation up to $1,800.00 that people donate to my team page.  It will hopefully create a feeling that I’m in there with everybody and working just as hard to use my money as I am in asking people to use their money.
  2. I’ve decided to do some events around my fundraising page revolved around my love of Yoga.  Myself and two other ladies on the leadership team are going to host three donation based yoga classes at our favorite studios (grateful for the use of the spaces and the donation of the time by local yoga teachers!).  The classes will be free but will have a suggested donation to our team pages to attend the class.
  3. We are also going to have in kind sponsors create cool prize packs and sell raffle tickets to raise money and donations for our team pages.
  4. Creation of a flyer and distribution of it both in paper form and through digital marketing and my social networks to create additional awareness of what I’m up to with this.

These are just a few of the ways in which I’m going to attempt to make my fundraising a bit more fun this year and for my work revolved around the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

What do you think about these?

Do you have any suggestions or other questions about my role that might help you gain some clarity on how to lead and work with a team for a volunteering cause?

Email me at mike@MarketingFunWithMike.com to ask me any questions about my volunteering history, your comments and experiences, and any other ways in which I can help you build something special through this THINKTANK.  It’s happening in order to support you and to help you create something impactful in this world that you also enjoy doing.
